Failures and happy accidents.

Before I started this blog I had to give myself a pep talk that I WILL FAIL at many things I try to create. & I really mean that in the greatest way possible. Sometimes when we fail it means that we are trying and usually trying new things. I would be lying if I said this doesn't worry me being the perfectionist that I am. I have to put thoughts in my head that this is all a learning experience and I'll be taking risks on things I've never done before.

My favorite quote is from Duane Michals who I saw speak at the Denver Art Museum and he said "You cannot be creative without taking risks"  THE best lecture I have ever heard. He's very bold and kind of vulgar for an old man but those are the artists and with best words to speak. Plus he signed my holga and asked "What in the hell is a HOL-I-GA?! plastic?!" & that's when my first holga became Duane

ANYWHO.

After getting a full time job as production supervisor for a copy and print department (a big change after having 3-4 part time and freelance jobs at once) I was feeling in desperate need to explore more creative outlets before I go into full force with my photography. This is my chance and opportunity to explore all things creative before settling down. I've always wanted to teach art and photography and I believe that this will be the greatest start to that next chapter in life someday.

I started watercoloring to get my hands and mind into something new.
I think my favorite painting was a happy accident that turned out simple and due to creative frustrations. I believe I was trying to paint something complex but it was not coming along as I planned. So I decided to just paint a rainbow and now it's my favorite damn rainbow.
You can purchase a copy of my happy accident rainbow on my Etsy page!

What is your greatest and latest happy accident?!
