Birthdays are kind of like a very personal new year.
I like to reflect on what I learned during my pervious year of life and how I want to be a better person the next. I went through some major life changes while I was 22. I graduated college, moved across the country to be with the love of my life, and was actually my first year of being a "real" adult with "adult responsibilities" like watching plenty of Disney movies and watercoloring...I mean uh...paying bills and having a full time big girl job.
As you can tell, I've had a good year to learn a lot in life and a lot about myself.
Here are 22 things I learned at 22.
- You don't have to stop learning when you graduate college.
- Reading is a lot more enjoyable when I'm learning something new and working my brain.
- It's okay not to have your dream job by the time you're 22 and right out of college- you're still learning and figuring things out
- Paying student loans feels better then new clothing
- Speaking of clothing--Sweats are more comfortable now then ever, especially when you wear a uniform everyday for work.
- "No" can actually be a very positive word.
- If you are in an uncomfortable situation it's okay to just leave...do it...take your things and GO.
- You have to let go of negative people in your life.
- You should also reconnect with past friendships-- I reconnected with my best friend growing up and I'm so very blessed that we are building a great friendship again as adults.
- It's really hard to make new friends in new places when you're not in college or not into the entire bar scene- but sometimes that's okay.
- When you have a great feeling deep down inside of you- just go for it- no matter what others will think of it.
- People aren't always going to agree with you.
- Fall in love with someone who helps you be a better person and loves you as you are.
- Have Courage and Be Kind-- Cinderella taught me that one.
- Be kind...but take no shit.
- I have "the patience of a saint" according to my boss.
- Going to the doctor is very necessary, no matter how scary it is.
- Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
- Taking time for a simple walk or a quite evening with your love is always necessary.
- Never let go of that one thing you have a true passion for or you will lose your mind.
- Feeling comfortable with your natural looks is a blessing.
- Always discover and try new things in life- what do you have to lose?
I've been reading a lot of articles lately that 23 is THE worst year of your 20's.
Article one, Article two, Article three.
I hope that I can overcome this "terrible year of life" and will find many blessings and joy!
