That time in my life kind of reminds me of what I'm doing now. I graduated college almost a year ago with my Bachelor of Arts in Photography...right after school I loaded myself with many photo jobs. Now that I left Denver and have a different full time job I am taking time to try as many creative outlets and explore before jumping back into a full time job with photography again. It's been really great for me and I recommend all artists to do the same thing in their lifetime! It's always good to feed off other mediums and inspirations.
One thing I was really into at this time was Artist Trading Cards.
What are Artist Trading Cards? ATCs are blank cards that measure 2 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches. They are used for mixed media really. I'm not sure how I found out about these but I really enjoyed them at the time and it helped me expand my creative horizons!
I'm pretty sure that this was my first set of trading cards and still my favorite to this day.
The mediums I used for these were scrapbook paper, acrylic paints, magazine words, and other little treasures. I think they have the greatest meanings to them and also the best color.
What do you do with scrapbooking paper scraps? You take an x-acto knife and spend a lot of time cutting tiny pieces of paper while watching Wheel of Fortune and the news with your Grandparents.
I honestly couldn't believe I could pull these very detailed pieces off once I finished.
Usually when I look back on old artwork or photos I've taken that I thought were SO FANTASTIC...I tend to ask myself "Ew. What was I thinking?" However, when I look at theses cards I created I really feel more inspired and proud of the steps I took to make these. I think I will pull some blank cards out this week and create a new set!
Enjoy your days!
