I have my new calendar, planner, and life planner that I created all by myself and very proud of what I did. I hope they can help keep me motivated throughout the year. I've really thought a lot about what I wanted to accomplish this year and that's to grow myself as an artists and become an overall better person. I'm really excited to grow my photography and art in Vermont, try new things, and hopefully learn a lot in the process of it all. Here is my detailed resolution list of the year. Enjoy!
Grow my lomography portfolio
When I was in college one of my portfolios was shot with my twin lens holga and they were panoramas. I was always into alternative processes, photo transfers, and lomography. I had a few classmates that would tell me "You're definitely going to be a fine art photographer" and that always felt really good to me. I even loved writing artist statements! Something about Vermont is Holga and lomography is quite unknown...this can work against me or for me...I'm going to make it work for me! I'm so excited to bring something a little unknown to New England and hopefully own it!
Art shows
During this year I have been able to watch and learn from Ronnie during all of his art shows for his pottery. I've always wanted to do art shows but I never knew where to start! This year I am going to make as much inventory between prints, cards, photo transfers, etc. and hopefully start shows by late summer/early fall
Start my book
Eek! I've always wanted my own little coffee table art book and I'm ready to take that step. Except for one thing...I need a concept! My biggest goal is to find that concept and shoot it. I don't expect having it all together and printed by the end of the year...if I can figure out my plans we will be doing good! This will also included a lot of research.
Build my blog and YouTube channel
This year I decided to start my art blog and recently a YouTube channel. I am still in the process of seeing where they are going and how I really want to run them. I've really enjoyed creating tutorials though. I do have a passion for teaching and sharing because I know how much I love to learn and grow my creativity!
I'm always inspired when I read but just don't do it enough. I think this is because I just get very distracted to be honest. My goal is a book a month. I've been enjoying inspirational books lately and love documentaries. One of my favorites last year was The Secret which I snagged for 0.50 at a yard sale. If you have any inspiring books let me know!
Sing more
As most of you know I have been singing almost my entire life. Except...I have the worst stage fright and hate singing in front of others! This past year I actually got some courage and started posting videos on instagram and had some really positive comments about it! I love singing...it brings me so much joy and always is a stress reliever for me! I would love to find courage to sing in front of actual people sometime this year though...and not just on instagram!
Learn the ukulele
Ronnie bought me a ukulele for Christmas and I love it...It's even PINK! I am so excited to learn a new instrument and sing along to it! A long time ago I tried to play guitar but it just didn't work out for some reason...I hope to have much better luck with my little Uke. A challenge is always good for the brain!
Keep learning and growing as a person and artist
I always love learning new art forms and growing my creativity! Last year I taught myself watercolors, I did more cross stitching, and Ronnie taught me some pottery. This year I think I might tackle some felting and book binding. I need to visit more museums this year and get involved more with the community. I haven't really found my place here in Vermont but I necessarily haven't tried too much and I hope to do that this year. I hope won't be as anxious socializing this year!
That wraps up my resolutions for this year! I am very excited to see what the year has in store for me as an artist and also life in general. I'm ready to work harder and become more inspired each and everyday to create and enjoy life!
I wish you a blessed, successful, and colorful year!
